Visited my local Mairangi Bay Market this morning.I love the vegetable stall run by Clevedon Herbs & Produce, a dedicated family, growing organic vegetables and herbs.
It is always so inspirational to see the passion that they have for producing the most delicious vegetables and herbs. It inspires me to make a variety of salads for dinner, with watercress, microgreens, salad mix with flowers, sprinkled with the nut mix I make and Bestow Oil and lemon juice.....or baby carrots and leeks steamed with spinach and celery. It is also so nice to treat myself to a pretty bunch of flowers to bring a little bit of summer into the house on this cold winters day.

My Lemon Tree

My lovely friend Ngaire gave me this lemon tree 3 years ago and I planted it at my front door, so that it was handy to pick the lemons. Since then, it has thrived and has now produced the most amazing crop of lemons.

Visit to Hanmer Springs

Tea at Oxford.jpg

I went to Christchurch for a couple of days with my Grandson and Mother (91). We had afternoon tea at Pink Sugar in Oxford, a lovely cafe that does vintage high teas.  After the tea we all went on a jet boat ride.  Great fun.

Soaking the Skin

Continuing on from my last post concerning dehydrated skins.

At Janesce Skin Care we believe a hydrated skin is a healthy skin.  To achieve this, I encourage my clients to soak their skin using Janesce floral soaking drops.  This step is vital and offers your skin many benefits.

* Has a gentle cleansing effect and rinses away impurities

* Encourages direct skin hydration

* Gently removes a build-up of dead skin cells that can make the skin seem dull

* Increases the skins ability to absorb the beneficial plant actives contained in the soaking drops by up to 50%

* Encourages a translucent  healthy skin

I am passionate about soaking the skin, and I see the difference in my clients' skins once they begin soaking twice a day.

Dehydrated Skin

One of the skin problems I see most regularly is a dehydrated skin, which leads to the skin feeling tight with fine lines, congestion, often redness around sides of nose and other sensitivities.

The first principle of Janesce Skin Care is protecting the skin mantle, often referred to as the acid mantle or lipid mantle.  This mantle is the protective film on top of your epidermis.  Think of it as having "plastic wrap" on the top of your epidermis.

There can be many reasons why this protective layer can be stripped off the skin, including the use of foaming/gel cleansers, soaps, and aggressive stripping of the skin using coarse exfoliation treatments.

When the skin is dehydrated it can't produce water, but will produce more oil (sebum) to protect the skin, which in turn results in an oily, dehydrated, congested skin.

The second principle of Janesce Skin Care is that the skin needs to be fully hydrated to function well.  To do this, we soak the skin using floral soaking drops in water, to directly hydrate the skin, then "lock in" that moisture with a floral mist or concentrate, and a concentrated moisturiser on top.

Next week, I will talk about the benefits of soaking your skin.

Have a great week.

Kawai Purapura Centre

Just been to the Sacred Earth Festival at Kawai Purapura Yoga Retreat Centre. I took my Grandson, and we both really enjoyed the day. The highlight for us was watching the group "Sacred Earth" play. I always play their music in my room, as it is so peaceful and relaxing, so it was good to finally hear them live.
Tyler loved listening to the music, and sat right at the front. He said it touched his heart x.
