Looking for a natural sunblock?

The Suncare Lotion is another amazing botanical product in the beautiful Janesce skincare range, in fact it would have to be one of my favourites. I’d like to share with you the heart-warming story of how and why it was created. It was told to me by Janice S Smith, the founder of Janesce Skin Care.

In the 1990’s, a mother sought help from Jan for her six month old baby who was suffering from eczema. During the consultation it was revealed that the mother was putting SPF sunscreen on her baby’s skin.

Jan put the baby on the Janesce eczema program. But the sunscreen part of the story bothered her. The mother’s motivation was good – to protect her child’s painful eczema from the effects of the sun. But Jan realised the sunscreen could be irritating to sensitive young skin.  So, she went out to her lab and began formulating a special botanical lotion that was sun protective soothing to the skin. Several weeks later Jan offered the new Janesce suncare lotion to the mother and asked her to trial it on her baby.

The baby’s skin responded amazingly well to the healing herbs and plant oils the lotion contained. In fact, the results were so positive, it got Jan thinking. This soothing suncare product was going to be great for all ages and all skin types.

The Janesce Suncare Lotion is a very concentrated blend of selected organic plant extracts. It works by using the natural sun filters found in plants that are naturally rich in vitamins A and E. These antioxidant vitamins are absorbed into the skin where they neutralize the effect of the sun – both on the skin’s surface and in the lower layers.

The Janesce Suncare Lotion protects you from both UVA and UVB rays as well as environmental stresses and pollution. The protection it offers builds over time as the antioxidants are absorbed into the skin. It requires seven to ten days of continuous use before it reaches its maximum protection level. It is then important to apply it every day, whether you are exposed to sunlight or not.

Another thing I love about this botanical suncare lotion is that, unlike conventional sunscreens, it does not interfere with the natural protective mechanisms your skin already has in place to protect itself. One of these mechanisms is the production of Vitamin D, an important nutrient for our overall health. Many sun blocks on the market will suppress vitamin D production in the skin. The Janesce Suncare Lotion won’t.

The Janesce Suncare Lotion is gentle on the skin and does not irritate. It can be used with sensitive skin, or young children from the age of six months. It is suitable for all skin types including sensitive, oily or congested skin. Due to the high concentration of anti-oxidants it contains, it is also capable of slowing skin ageing caused by environmental damage.

Apply in the morning, on damp skin over your daily moisturiser. If you are not in an environment which is drying on the skin, the Janesce Suncare Lotion can be used as your daily moisturiser.

Half a pump of product will cover the face area. One pump will cover face and neck area. It is an excellent moisturiser for men, for those with oily skin, or as a starting moisturiser for pre-teens and for children of any age.

If you haven’t used this wonderful product before, or if you stopped using it over winter, now is the time to introduce it into your daily skin care ritual. The New Zealand spring is a dangerous time for skin because the sun feels mild but the UV rays can actually be at very high levels.

I am sure this product will soon become a firm favourite if you give it a try.

Soaking the Skin.jpg

Total hydration is absolutely essential for beautiful skin.

The Janesce mantra is “wet the skin, and lock it in”.

The way we achieve this is by embracing the twice daily Janesce Soaking Ritual.

This is a 3 step process which involves soaking the skin with warm water and Janesce Soaking Drops, applying botanical mists or concentrates, then finishing with a concentrated Janesce Moisturiser, designed to seal in the hydration and plant actives into the skin.

Skin soaking is truly transforming. It can set disordered skin on the path of healing, and bring dull, devitalised skin back to life.

Mum's omelettes

I love popping over to have lunch with Mum (92 years old).
She makes the most delicious cheese omelettes, using an omelette pan she bought in the 1940's when she married.
I am so proud of her x.

A delicious fruit cake

I was totally blown away today, when a lovely client made me a delicious fruit cake and drove over the bridge, to deliver the cake to me.  Wow, that was so kind of Gwendoline.  Thank you so much. x

Mum gave me this bunch of dahlias from her garden. You don't see them that often nowadays, and they make such a pretty splash of colour in the garden.
